چکیده

SERUM ALDOLASE ESTIMATION 1S one of the principal diagnostic tests used in the elucidation of muscle disease (2-6). In myocardial infarction (7), liver disease (8), and carcinomatosis (9), the serum aldolase estimation is a useful ancillary aid to diagnosis. The usefulness of the test has been enhanced since the differentiation 1)etween muscle and liver aldolase by use of two substrates-fructose1,6-diphosphate (for muscle aldolase) and fructose-i-phosphate (for liver aldolase)-was described (10). The automated method described below is based on the manual test reported by Bruns (1).

The activities of fructose diphosphatase in flight muscles from the bumble-bee and the role of this enzyme in heat generation.

1. The maximum catalytic activities of fructose diphosphatase from flight muscles of bumble-bees (Bombus spp.) are at least 30-fold those reported for the enzyme from other tissues. The maximum activity of fructose diphosphatase in the flight muscle of any particular bee is similar to that of phosphofructokinase in the same muscle, and the activity of hexokinase is similar to or greater than th...

Hepatic Fructose-1,6-Diphosphatase Deficiency A CAUSE OF LACTIC ACIDOSIS AND HYPOGLYCEMIA

a high carbohydrate diet resulted in hypoglycemia (plasma glucose 40 mg/100 ml), lactic acidosis (6-10 mM), and a rise in plasma alanine. Glucagon produced a glycemic response after 6 hr, but not after 18 hr fasting. Intravenous galactose increased plasma glucose (A 45 mg/100 ml) but intravenous fructose, glycerol, and alanine caused a 40-50% fall in plasma glucose and a significant rise in lac...

Hepatic fructose-1,6-diphosphatase deficiency. A cause of lactic acidosis and hypoglycemia in infancy.

An 8-month-old female, maintained on breast feeding for 6 months, experienced numerous attacks of hyperventilation when weaned to baby food and was admitted with severe lactic acidosis (20 mM) and hypoglycemia. Physical examination was negative except for hepatomegaly. Fasting (18 hr) after stabilization on a high carbohydrate diet resulted in hypoglycemia (plasma glucose 40 mg/100 ml), lactic ...

Metabolism of D-fructose in Aerobacter aerogenes: analysis of mutants lacking D-fructose 6-phosphate kinase and D-fructose 1,6-diphosphatase.

The relative significance of the pathways for the conversion of d-fructose to d-fructose 1,6-diphosphate via d-fructose 1-phosphate or d-fructose 6-phosphate in Aerobacter aerogenes PRL-R3 was assessed by observing growth patterns of mutants lacking either d-fructose 6-phosphate kinase or d-fructose 1,6-diphosphatase. The mutant lacking d-fructose 6-phosphate kinase grew well on d-fructose or g...
